DAVID DE GEA WANTS EMIRATES FA CUP SUCCESS

Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea has spoken ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup semi-final against Everton at Wembley, declaring the players are determined to secure the club’s first cup win since 2004.Before having a shot at lifting the trophy in May, the Reds will have to overcome the challenge posed by Roberto Martinez’s Everton side. De Gea expects a difficult test from the Toffees, despite their recent struggles.

"It’s going to be a very tough game for us. We’re talking about a semi-final and the teams left in the competition have all knocked out decent sides," David told the official matchday programme. "Everton saw off Chelsea and other good sides, so it will be a very tough proposition to go all the way, but we’re really determined to try to win the cup.

"We really wanted to get to the semi-final and be able to play at Wembley after not being there for a good few years, and we played really well against the West Ham in the replay," he added. "Now we’re there we’re even keener to win another trophy for this club, our supporters and ourselves."

De Gea, who has been named in the PFA Team of the Year for the third time, has enjoyed another stellar season between the sticks and the club's back-to-back player of the year also has history against Everton, with one of his standout displays for the Reds coming against the Merseysiders at Old Trafford in October 2014.
That game yielded a 2-1 win for the Reds, with David playing a crucial part as he kept out Leighton Baines from the penalty spot, before denying Leon Osman and Brian Oviedo with two jaw-dropping saves.

"I will always remember that game for the atmosphere, the saves I made and the way the supporters chanted my name – it was incredible!" De Gea recalled with a smile.
"We know that Everton are a dangerous outfit, but the team gave everything to get to Wembley and if we can go all the way then it could provide us with that extra motivation to hopefully go on to achieve great things."
The full interview with David features in the official matchday programme for the Emirates FA Cup semi-final, which you can order online.
